My Favourite Albums

Albums Mount Rushmore

My Mount Rushmore of albums is built on projects that shaped how I feel, think, and create. Friday Night Lights by J. Cole captures his hunger and versatility, an album I can throw on while hooping, cooking, or coding because it fits every mood. Hive Mind by The Internet is pure ear candy, smooth and soothing, and it takes me back to my teens when I first felt its calming vibe. Graduation is Kanye at his best, the grand production and inspiring lyrics, especially on “Can’t Tell Me Nothing,” never fail to fire me up. And then there is IGOR, a perfect album to me. I ran it nonstop when it dropped, every track a personal classic. “PUPPET” stands out most, reminding me of breakups with its poetic lyrics and featuring what I consider Kanye’s best verse of that year.

My Favourite Anime

Anime Mount Rushmore

My anime Mount Rushmore represents the shows that defined me at different points in life. Naruto has been with me since I was 11, and I feel like I grew up alongside him with so many arcs that bring back pure nostalgia. Dragon Ball Z is even more nostalgic since I used to watch it before school and became a true Dragon Ball superfan, keeping up with everything, buying the games, and even watching theory and “what if” videos on YouTube. Kuroko no Basket had me hooked during the pandemic, I binged it in about a week and as a basketball player I really felt like I was part of the Seirin High squad. Hunter x Hunter was my after-school favorite in 11th grade, with Kurapika as my favorite character and the Yorknew arc reaching all-time levels of peak storytelling for me. And while it cannot be on the Mount Rushmore since it is technically not an anime, I have to give an honorable mention to Avatar: The Last Airbender, my favorite show of all time and one I am just as much of a superfan of as DBZ.

My Favourite Hoopers

Hooper Mount Rushmore

My basketball Mount Rushmore reflects the players who shaped how I see and love the game. Tracy McGrady is one of my all-time favorites, a player who could do everything Kobe could at 6’9 and someone I feel is extremely underrated. He was also my go-to player to use on 2K. Kevin Durant was huge for me growing up, since as a lanky kid myself I studied his highlights and film to learn how to play. Kyle Lowry represents the best era of Toronto basketball and as a Raptors fan that alone immortalizes him in my eyes. Watching him cook for my hometown team is a core memory. Steph Curry became a legend right as I started watching basketball in 2014, so for me he represents the beginning of my basketball journey.
