My Favourite Classes

As a Computer Engineering Graduate

Machine Learning, Database Management, Software Development, Human-Computer Interaction, and Object-Oriented Programming were my favourite classes in undergrad, and they inspired me to pursue a career in tech.

My Proudest Moment

One of my proudest moments in undergrad was the creation of Hyve. The idea came from a personal challenge I faced after moving to Kingston—finding someone who could cut or braid my hair. What started as a personal struggle turned into the foundation for a platform designed to make that process easier for others, while also celebrating the incredible talent within the student community at Queen’s. Building Hyve not only gave me the chance to solve a real problem I deeply understood, but it also allowed me to grow as a developer, sharpening my skills in web design, UI/UX, and team management while balancing my studies. Seeing Hyve come to life and continue to make an impact is something I am truly proud of. You can read more about it in this article from The Queen’s Journal.

National Society Of Black Engineers

Black Youth In STEM

Club Life

At Queen’s, I was deeply involved in two communities that meant a lot to me: the National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE) and Black Youth in STEM (BYIS). With NSBE, I served as the Sponsorship Lead, where I secured partnerships, and helped drive collaboration across the team. I also acted as a peer mentor, supporting other Black engineering students in their academic and professional journeys. With BYIS, I had the chance to mentor Black youth in Kingston who were interested in STEM, leading engaging activities and hands-on sessions for over 25 students. Both of these experiences gave me the chance to give back, build community, and use my own journey in engineering to inspire the next generation.
